Daniel Oliveira hace historia en el WRC

Por primera vez en la historia del Campeonato Mundial de Rally un equipo brasileño ha logrado sumar puntos para el escalafón de equipos, merced a que Daniel Oliveira logró completar el último día de carrera en el pasado Rally de Italia.
Al comando de su MINI John Cooper Works WRC, el joven piloto brasileño le dio al Brazil World Rally Team su primera satisfacción en lo que fue la tercera aparición de la temporada luego de que la estructura irrumpiera este año en la escena internacional rallística.

Esta oportunidad para Daniel Oliveira representó un gran sentimiento al haber ayudado a su equipo a conseguir su primer punto en el campeonato de constructores, aunque se espera que no sea el último. La apuesta del BWRT en el WRC es a largo plazo, y uno de los principales objetivos detrás de este proyecto es ayudar a que el rally pueda despegar en Brasil.

De hecho la práctica de rally en el país no es nada nueva. Uno de los mayores territorios y economías del mundo es poseedora de un capítulo en la historia del WRC al ser el único lugar de Sudamérica, al margen de Argentina, en albergar una cita mundial cuando a principios de los ochentas organizó dos fechas.

En 1981 el Rallye do Brasil fue parte de una única aventura tendiente a cruzar el océano atlántico para disputar dos rondas en Sudamérica. La primera parada fue en Julio en Argentina para la tercera edición del entonces llamado Rally Codasur, e inmediatamente después le tocó el turno a su vecino.

Aquella primera edición fue ganada por Ari Vatanen con un Ford Escort RS1800 del Rothmans Rally Team. El piloto finés batió a Guy Frequelin, quien venía de vencer dos semanas atrás en el primer desafío continental.

Al año siguiente Brasil volvió a ser merecedora de una fecha, pero esta vez tuvo el privilegio de ser la única cita sudamericana, puesto que Argentina estaba sobrellevando una guerra con Gran Bretaña por la soberanía de las Islas Malvinas. En esa edición Michel Mouton al comando de un Audi Quattro vencía al Opel Ascona de Walter Rohl.

Brasil quer crescer no WRC

A lusofonia está em grande no panorama dos ralis mundiais, contando não só com os projectos de Araújo, Sousa e Magalhães, mas também com o ataque de Daniel Oliveira e do Brasil ao Campeonato do Mundo de Ralis.O Brasil é hoje a oitava maior economia do mundo, um país que transpira optimismo e trabalha actualmente em grandes projectos. Para além de receberem o próximo Campeonato do Mundo de Futebol em 2014 e os Jogos Olímpicos de 2016, os brasileiros mostram agora interesse em afirmarem-se nos ralis. O sucesso no automobilismo não começa aqui para o povo brasileiro, Ayrton Senna é uma lenda mundial e outros venceram na F1, como Emerson Fittipaldi ou Nelson Piquet.

O maior país da América do Sul também já teve uma prova do Campeonato do Mundo de Ralis, em 1981 e 1982, com as vitórias a ficarem para Ari Vatanen e Michele Mouton respectivamente.O Brazil World Rally Team alinha no Campeonato do Mundo de Ralis, com Daniel Oliveira ao volante e o português Carlos Magalhães nas funções de navegador, a bordo do Mini John Cooper Works construído e assistido pela Prodrive. No próxima prova - Rali da Sardenha - a equipa irá evoluir para uma versão World Rally Car do Mini. Este projecto, que arrancou no Rali de Portugal, tem gerado cada vez mais interesse dos brasileiros, que começam a acompanhar a modalidade. Talvez por isso o carro sem patrocinadores que surgiu em Portugal, tenha recebido alguns autocolantes para a Jordânia..O furor da economia brasileira permite que este projecto ganhe cada vez mais apoios. Falemos dos nomes: Bahiatursa, o promotor de turismo do estado da Bahia; Keta, uma empresa do sector financeiro e dos seguros e ainda a Embraer, terceiro fabricante mundial de aviões. Contudo, não se pense que seja fácil montar um projecto desta envergadura, mesmo num país em ascenção económica, como se pode constatar pelo decréscimo de representantes brasileiros nas várias competições automobilisticas mundiais e mesmo na F1. Dos quatro pilotos que o Brasil tinha no ano passado, restaram apenas dois: Felipe Massa e Rubens Barrichello. Lucas di Grassi ficou sem vaga, e Bruno Senna é piloto de testes da Renault.Fala-se na possibilidade da equipa BWRT poder vir a ter um segundo carro em 2012, e Daniel Oliveira confirmou isso mesmo numa entrevista, onde acrescentou que o segundo piloto não tinha necessariamente de ser brasileiro.

Esperemos que este projecto se prolongue no tempo e que os ralis comecem a fazer parte da paixão que o povo brasileiro nutre pelo desporto.

Daniel Oliveira ya está en carrera en Jordania

El Brazil World Rally Team finalmente está en competencia en el Rally de Jordania, cuarta prueba del Campeonato Mundial de Rally que tiene base en el Mar Muerto, luego de que varios retrasos sacudieran al evento obligando a las autoridades deportivas a cancelar el primer día de carrera y a reprogramar muchas de las actividades previas.
Al comando de su MINI John Cooper Works S2000, el piloto brasilero Daniel Oliveira junto a su navegante portugués Carlos Magalhaes formaron parte de la largada ceremonial que tuvo lugar en la antigua ciudad de Jerash, ubicada a 90 kilómetros de la capital jordana, Amman, y mañana estará afrontando las primeras especiales.

En primer término el equipo debió haber participado esta mañana en el Shakedown, las pruebas oficiales, sin embargo se decidió no ser de la partida considerando que el convoy de la organización finalmente llegó al Parque de Servicio pasada la medianoche, luego de que el barco que transportaba los autos de carrera y el equipamiento de los equipos sufriera la rotura de uno de sus motores.

El nuevo formato del evento incluirá dos etapas, la del viernes y sábado, que no sufrirán modificación alguna respecto al cronograma original de carrera. Mañana las tripulaciones disputarán seis pruebas especiales totalizando 144,30 kilómetros competitivos.

Daniel Oliveira: "Finalmente estamos en competencia y con muchas ganas de largar mañana las especiales. Ahora debemos hacer frente a una carrera reducida que demandará mucha más concentración de nuestra parte. Junto a Carlos hicimos un gran trabajo en el reconocimiento y llegamos con una hoja de ruta bien pulida. Esta mañana decidimos no formar parte del Shakedown ya que había que terminar unos trabajos en el MINI John Cooper Works S2000 y no valía la pena sacrificar ese tiempo puesto que era una prueba muy corta. El auto recién llegó al Parque de Servicio a la una de la madrugada y desde entonces el equipo trabajó muy duro hasta las 14:45 para llegar con el auto a tiempo para largar la carrera en Jerash".

Daniel con mucha expectativa en Jordania

El equipo brasileño realizará su segundo rallye del WRC con el MINI John Cooper Wokrs Super2000 pilotado por Daniel Oliveira Con el desarrollo del coche en su fase inicial, la posibilidad de acumular una gran cantidad de kilómetros cronometrados será de vital importancia para el joven brasileño y su copiloto portugués Carlos Magalhaes.

Daniel Oliveira: “El Rallye de Jordania será un gran reto para nosotros. Tendremos que luchar contra condiciones extremas que nos ayudarán mucho en la evolución del MINI John Cooper Works S2000. La estrategia es no cometer errores y ser muy prudentes, nuestro objetivo es seguir aprendiendo del coche y mejorar nuestro ritmo”.

Brazil WRT to challenge Jordan's desert

The Brazil World Rally team and his Brazilian representative Daniel Oliveira have already embarked on their second compromise within the World Rally Championship to be held in the Middle East. The next stop will be the torrid desert of the Jordan Valley where the crews will tackle a unique event.
The Jordan Rally, fourth round of the WRC, will be located on the shores of the Dead Sea, where the competitors will race through the earth's lowest land point - more than 400 metres below the sea level with temperatures reaching 40ºC (104ºF). The roads featuring hard-packed gravel also represent a great challenge for both the drivers and the machines.

After a positive season-opener round in Portugal, Daniel Oliveira alongside his Portuguese navigator Carlos Magalhaes, come to Jordan with much enthusiasm. They expect to cover a large number of race kilometres and gain valuable experience as well prior to jump to the MINI's WRC version in Italy.

For sure, the Jordan test will be a good opportunity for the MINI John Cooper Works S2000 to reaffirm its fast pace and high reliability shown two weeks ago in its worldwide debut in Portugal.

"Jordan Rally will be another great challenge for us. This will be our second race so far, so there are still a lot of new things to experience. We'll have to cope with some extreme conditions which will be good to continue the development of the MINI John Cooper Works S2000. Also driving on the desert is something new to me and that's why I'm looking forward to make as much as I can out of of this opportunity. The strategy is to adopt a cautious approach to the event and see how we're feeling over the stages. Once again, the main objective is to finish the race, keep on learning and and improve our pace" stated Daniel Oliveira.

The activities will begin next Monday with the reconnaissance. The shakedown will be held on Wednesday 7.48 km north of the Service Park. The ceremonial start will take place on Jerash on Thursday night once completed the first two section of race.

A total of 31 cars have entered the race. Citroen's Sebastien Loeb and Ford's Mikko Hirvonen match in the standings first position. Rally of Jordan will be the second round for the SWRC class (S2000 cars)

Gran debut de Daniel en Portugal

Oliveira está convencido de que el estreno de MINI apunta a un futuro prometedor, en concreto cuando la versión World Rally Car debute en el Rallye de Italia-Sardegna de principios de mayo.“Pensamos que podríamos empezar este rallye con un test de 200 kilómetros, pero a final fue mucho menos”, dijo el piloto de 25 años Oliveira. “Tuvimos que cambiar nuestros planes, así que este rallye ha sido solo un gran test. Existen algunas modificaciones a realizar en el coche y aún quedan algunos tests por hacer, pero el coche tiene mucho potencial. Cuando los coches oficiales de Kris Meeke y Dani Sordo empiecen en Cerdeña, la puesta a punto sólo hará que mejorar.”

Positive first outing for Oliveira and Brazil WRT

In their maiden event together Brazilian driver Daniel Oliveira and the Brazil World Rally Team broke into the international rally arena by doing a great job in the Rally de Portugal, third round of the World Rally Championship (WRC).Despite having only tested the MINI John Cooper Works S2000 for the first time ten days ago and only for some kilometres, Oliveira exhibited a good adjustment to the WRC scenery and to his new car, which confirmed the great potential showed in the pre-season test.

Unfortunately, after four days of competition and more than 385,37 kilometres of tough stages, Oliveira's MINI stopped within the last stage of race with a broken suspension, 13 kilometres from the finishing line. Daniel couldn't fulfil his aim of finishing his first event in the WRC. However, the general outcome was highly positive for him and the team.

During the whole weekend Daniel showed his ability by making a series of top-15 fastest times and keeping the car on the road. Today on the first three stages Oliveira once again recorded some good splits.

The next event for Daniel Oliveira and his Portuguese navigator Carlos Magalhaes is the Rally of Jordan, to be celebrated on April 14-16. It will be the second outing for the crew in the S2000 version before getting in the MINI John Cooper Works WRC.

However, I feel really happy since we gained a lot of experience which was our main objective here in Portugal. It was an incredible weekend for me and the team. We made a great job together".

Another great day of action for Daniel Oliveira

Brazil World Rally team driver Daniel Oliveira alongside his Portuguese navigator Carlos Magalhaes succeeded in completing another day of competition on the Rally de Portugal, third round of the World Rally Championship.

Daniel stuck to his plan of keeping the MINI John Cooper Works S2000 on the road, finishing the day, and taking the most of his first experience in the WRC. However, he is making important improvements on his pace, and today was quick enough to record some good splits.

Despite suffering from some minor mechanical issues on the first section of the race and a puncture on SS10, Daniel managed to hold his fourth position among the S2000-spec cars while being 23º in the overall classification.

Heading for the last day of competition Daniel and Carlos will tackle tomorrow the last four stages which include two runs through the 31, 04-kilometre Santana da Serra stage, the longest one. The first car will hit the road at 7:34 (local time).

Oliveira made his way through leg one in Portugal.

Brazil World Rally Team driver Daniel Oliveira completed a tough first leg of the Rally de Portugal, third round of the World Rally Championship (WRC), taking an important step forward in his WRC maiden event.Oliveira had a smooth starting and over the kilometres he began feeling more confident with his driving. He improved considerable his pace on the second and third stages until his MINI John Cooper Works S2000 hit some problems.

On SS4 a bearing of the universal joint got loose causing some friction and forcing Daniel to slow down to lose some valuable time. On other stages it was detected a minor electrical issue in the fuel pump.

The Brazilian representative dropped down to 28th still he managed to climb several positions to finished 21th overall and claiming also the fourth place among the S2000-spec cars.

For tomorrow are scheduled six special stages, starting the first car on the road the SS 8, Almodovar, at 10:17. In total the crews will tackle the longest of the three legs with 148.10 of competitive kilometres.

Oliveira quiere aprovechar al máximo el shakedown en Portugal

Daniel Oliveira prevé que el shakedown del Vodafone Rallye de Portugal le permita seguir adaptándose al MINI John Cooper Works Super 2000, que pilotará por primera vez en el campeonato del mundo de rallyes ésta semana.El piloto de 25 probó por primera vez con su equipo MINI Brazil World Rally sobre tierra durante una pequeña prueba que se realizó el lunes. Oliveira espera ahora aprovechar al máximo el shakedown del Vale de Judeu, que tendrá lugar a las 14.30 hora local, para adaptarse al vehículo a lo largo de los 5.03 kilómetros de la carrera sobre tierra.

Después de la prueba del lunes, el debutante comentó que: “A pesar de ser una sesión corta, la experiencia fue suficiente para lograr el buen pilotaje del choche y me siento muy satisfecho por el trabajo realizado. El choche es ágil y fácil de pilotar. El shakedown nos permitirá conocer más el coche y progresar antes del comienzo del rallye. Esperamos realizar una carrera impecable y sin percances.

El test de Oliveira del lunes tuvo lugar en la frontera con España, a 40 kilómetros de la base del rallye en Faro. Acompañado por su copiloto portugués Carlos Magalhaes, Oliveira completó varias pasadas al volante del coche preparado por Prodrive.

Oliveira regresó a Portugal después del test el lunes por la noche para empezar con los preparativos de los reconocimientos de la carrera, previsto para finalizar poco después del mediodía de hoy. Sin embargo, no será la primeva vez que Oliveira y Magalhaes completan juntos unos reconocimientos después de ya haberlos realizado a principios de éste mes en el Rallye Guanajuato Méjico.

Oliveira añadió: “Competir en el WRC es algo diferente y un proyecto totalmente increíble. Estoy muy agradecido por la oportunidad que se me ha dado. El equipo Brazil World Rally está a punto de dar su primer paso en el campeonato y todos queremos realizar una buena primera salida.”

Daniel Oliveira cada vez mas cerca de su debut en el WRC

Daniel Oliveira espera que la experiencia tras pilotar la versión S2000 del MINI de John Cooper Works le dará ventaja cuando tenga que competir con su equivalente World Rally Car los próximos meses.

La estrella brasileña disputará el Rallye Vodafone de Portugal y el Rallye de Jordania en abril con el coche S2000, antes de ocupar el asiento del modelo WRC en el Rallye de Italia Cerdeña a principios de mayo.

“Este año es todo un reto para mí, la oportunidad de empezar con un s2000 me dará preparación para Cerdeña y hará que gane seguridad y confianza con el coche nuevo”, afirma el piloto de 25 años. “Piloté este coche durante 50 km en unos test de Podrive en Warwick y quedé satisfecho con mi adaptación. El motor es muy bueno y tiene mucha fuerza. También conseguí el manejo correcto”.

Con escasa experiencia en los rallyes, el brasileño encarará la prueba de Portugal con precaución, el 25 de marzo.

“Se trata de un coche nuevo, tramos desconocidos, lo primordial para mí es no pinchar y no dañar el coche”, afirma Oliveira. “Quiero aprender paso a paso e ir más rápido tramo por tramo. Pero ahore tengo que aprender. Estoy emocionado pero también se que sera complicado. La carrera de Portugal no es fácil y por esto antes debo adquirir experiencia, antes que pensar en competir a nivel mundial”.

Oliveira, que participará con el equipo Brazil World Rally Team dirigido por Prodrive, quiere sacar el máximo provecho de la experiencia de su copiloto Carlos Magalhaes en el rallye de Faro. Este es de Portugal y ha competido en la carrera en dos ocasiones.

“Carlos estará aqui para ayudarme, mostrarme cuáles son las partes complicadas y donde están los peligros”, afirma Oliveira.

Daniel Testeando en Bahia

Daniel estuvo testeando por estos días, con vistas al comienzo en el campeonato mundial de rally WRC y su vuelta al rally Sudamericano.

Fueron 3 días de entrenamientos en Bahia (Brasil) a bordo del Subaru, donde transito 300 km.

Arduos y largos 300km que sirvieron para su entrenamientos personal y puesta a punto del coche.
